Some people enjoy doing their hanging baskets with fresh real flowers year on year - for the rest of us, fake hanging baskets are a godsend! Colour
Some of the fake hanging basket colours can be rather garish. You might assume that these will fade in time but in fact, many are fade resistant and will not. Faded artificial plants also tend to look pretty ugly and very unrealistic. Choose colours that you are confident will work well in your garden and are not too bright for your liking.
Durability
As noted, many high quality baskets are UV fade resistant - this is a really important feature to watch out for, as it ensures the sun's light won't leave your basket drab and unattractive.
Chain
Baskets tend to come with a chain attached (or one you can attach yourself) but these can be cheap and end up looking rusty or tatty after a little weathering. Look for one that has been galvanised - this means it has a special coating to help it stand up to the elements and ensure it looks good for much longer.
